Beautiful stand of mushrooms "Yellow Patches"?

While walking the dog I came upon a large stand of mushrooms. Looked it up in my Audubon Society "Field Guide to Mushrooms" and it looks like "Yellow Patches" Amanita flavoconia. "This is one of the most common eastern amanitas, and has the longest season. Its edibility has not been established and therefore it cannot be recommended." The crusty yellow white patches are warning enough for me. We have many large puffballs in our lawn and a mycologist told me that all puffballs are edible but I haven't had the courage to try them. Maybe one of these days I will as they look quite meaty when young and not full of spores.
